Uliyana Markova

Personal freedom through good therapy

Uliyana Markova is a psychotherapist registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists in Ontario (CRPO). She is located downtown at Bloor and Avenue and in North York at Yonge and Sheppard. Uliyana provides individual, couple and family therapy for adults, teenagers, and seniors.

Welcome!

Whether you are challenged in developing your own career path, overwhelmed with adjusting to a new place or culture, or feeling the stress of couple and family conflict, I can relate. The struggle to find your own way is a challenge that has engaged me closely both personally and as a therapist. I know from experience that discovering yourself creatively as an artist or a business owner requires internal work to build self-awareness and strength.

My long-term clients say that through our work together they have attained relief from their despair and have shifted their attitudes and self-perceptions in a way they never foresaw. To many of them, the world is now presenting more possibilities. Their interactions with others no longer shake them. They are braver, and feel both freer and more connected with themselves and others.

My offices are conveniently located in downtown Toronto (Bloor and Avenue), and in North York (Yonge and Sheppard). I also offer Skype sessions. To request an initial free phone consultation, contact me via email at [email protected] or call me at 647-797-3920.

Individual Therapy

Individual Psychotherapy

In individual psychotherapy sessions, I listen more than speak. My analytical mind, intuition, and solid knowledge combined do the work. I have been trained to tune in and capture what that creative work has generated. I am patient to allow the fuller picture to unfold. While not all of our experience is worded, conversation is our means of working. Words are the tool, but ultimately, change is lived....Learn More

My psychotherapy training is rooted in the classical theory of psychodynamic therapy. My personal individual and training group therapy have provided a very solid background that has been expanded with several years of clinical experience. I incorporate current developments in neuroscience and cognitive therapy in my sessions.

Each client brings a whole new world of experience to me. Despite my familiarity with certain issues, what you are going through is unique to you. In this sense, all that is brought to therapy is fresh to me. I learn together with you.

Couples Therapy

Couples Psychotherapy

I deeply care about the couples I see. If you join me, we will be setting on a journey that will intensify your connection and bond with your partner and give you new, effective ways of expressing your needs and desires.

As a couples therapist, I follow the Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) model of engagement, staying closely with the emotion at any given moment and helping the couple name the feelings that arise in the session so they can be understood. Understanding brings down levels of tension and opens the door to more caring interactions, compassion, and love.

The therapy follows a well-defined method of therapy that studies have proven to be one of the most successful modern approaches to couple relationship work. My training in the psychodynamic/psychoanalytic modality and extended learning on trauma is incorporated into my sessions.
